前置詞句
「 because of ( ～ のために ) 」 や 「 in the case of ( ～ の場合に [ 現実的 ] ) 」 などのように 2 つ以上の語句が結合し 1 つの前置詞として働くものがあります。この語句のことを 前置詞句、または 群前置詞 といいます。
2 語からなる前置詞句
according to ( ～ によれば )
apart from ( ～ は別として [ 英 ] )
aside from ( ～ は別として [ 米 ] )
as for ( ～ はどうかと言えば )
as to ( ～ に関しては )
but for ( ～ がなければ )

二重前置詞
「 前置詞 ＋ 前置詞 」 で 1 つの前置詞の役割を持つ語句のことを 二重前置詞 といいます。前の前置詞が、後ろの前置詞を含めた語句を目的語として扱います。

from among ( ～ の中から )
from under ( ～ の下から )
since before ( ～ 以前から今まで )
till after ( ～ の後まで )
until after ( ～ の後まで ) など
The moon emerged from behind the cloud.
